My Pick

[draft]jorubai murk lurker[/draft]

How does Jorubai Murk Lurker stand up in the quadrant theory? Let’s see.

Development: I am happy to have Jorubai Murk Lurker in my opening hand. Development lasts until about 5 mana and if this was the most expensive card in my opening hand I’d be okay with that. UP on dev.

Parity: In a stalled board this is not an over performer, I’d much rather have an Amphin Pathmage but giving my creatures lifelink is nice because it gives me breathing room. The Lurker is a great blocker in parity because you probably already have a swamp out. Up on parity.

Winning: A utility creature is nice when you’re ahead and the Murk Lurker just widens the gap. UP on winning.

Losing: When you’re losing the Jorubai Murk Lurker might not be the one card savior you need but giving lifelink to other creatures can definitely buy you some breathing room. So while it’s not the best there are certainly worse cards to have.

All in all, Jorubai Murk Lurker passes the test and is a welcome first pick. I feel it’s among the better pseudo gold cards.
